The 199 Sqdn left from Ingham at 1943-06-14 at 22:13
On Monday 14 June 1943, a member of the 199 Sqdn, Sergeant E Burton, took off from Ingham in the United Kingdom. His mission is mentioned elsewhere on WW2 History Europe. He flew with a Vickers Wellington (type X, serial HF597, code EX-Y).

Campaign report of the USAAF:


(Eighth Air Force): HQ 323d Bombardment Group (Medium) and it's 453d, 454th , 455th and 456th Bombardment Squadrons (Medium) transfer with B-26's from Horham, England to Earls Colne, England. The 349th Bombardment Squadron (Heavy), 100th Bombardment Group (Heavy) arrives at Thorpe Abbots, England from the US with B-17's. The squadron will fly it's first mission on 25 Jun.

13/14 June 1943

13 Mosquitos - 6 to Berlin, 4 to Düsseldorf and 3 to Cologne - but all targets were cloud-covered and only estimated positions were bombed. 18 Wellingtons and 12 Stirlings were sent minelaying off the Biscay ports and there were 8 OTU sorties. 1 Wellington minelayer lost.

14/15 June 1943

197 Lancasters and 6 Mosquitos to Oberhausen. This target was also cloud-covered but once again the Oboe skymarking was accurate. 17 Lancasters lost, 8.4 per cent of the force.

2 Mosquitos to Cologne, 29 aircraft minelaying off Brittany and in the River Gironde. 1 Stirling minelayer lost.
