Minor Operations: 39 Wellingtons and 6 Lancasters minelaying off the French and Dutch coasts, 3 O.T.U. sorties. No losses.
The first operational sorties by the new 6 (Canadian) Group were flown on this night by 6 Wellingtons of 427 Squadron taking part in the minelaying operation; 3 of these laid mines in the Frisian Islands but the other 3 aircraft had to return early with mechanical difficulties.

'Skymarker' flares were dropped on Oboe. Essen reports concentrated bombing in the Borbeck suburb, north of the centre, with 42 buildings destroyed, 64 seriously damaged and 14 people killed.

192 Squadron flew 141 operations with 3 Group and 342 operations with 100 Group, a total of 483. The primary purpose of all operations was to carry out some form of radio-countermeasures work but bombs were often carried and dropped on the Main Force targets.
