The first operational sorties by the new 6 (Canadian) Group were flown on this night by 6 Wellingtons of 427 Squadron taking part in the minelaying operation; 3 of these laid mines in the Frisian Islands but the other 3 aircraft had to return early with mechanical difficulties.
