In the first Bomber Command day operation for 10 days, 6 Wellingtons and 5 Lancasters were sent on cloud-cover raids to Essen and 5 smaller German tartgets. Most of these aircraft turned back because of insufficient cloud. 1 Wellington bombed ships off the Dutch coast. 1 Lancaster and 1 Wellington lost.
