COLOGNE
99 aircraft - 47 Wellingtons, 29 Hampdens, 22 Whitleys, 1 Manchester - to the city centre and to railway yards. 6 further Hampdens made searchlight suppression flights 10 miles west of Cologne without loss.
Good bombing was claimed in clear visibility. Cologne records indicate that most of the bombing was probably east of the city, with only about 15 percent of the bombs dropped being inside the city limits. 8 people were killed in Cologne. 1 Wellington and 1 Whitley lost.
Minor Operations: 29 Wellingtons and Whitleys to Le Havre, 14 Wellingtons and 2 Stirlings to Boulogne, 17 Hampdens minelaying in the Frisians and off Kiel and the Danish coast. 1 minelaying Hampden lost.
