36 Hampdens; good bombing results were claimed with no aircraft lost. Wilhelmshaven reports most of the bombs fell in open ground around the city and in the harbour. 1 fishing vessel was damaged and 1 barrack hut burnt down. 2 people were killed.

3 Stirlings to Arques 'ship-lift' near St-Omer but most bombs missed the target and fell in the village. No aircraft lost.
11. The tail gunner in a Stirling with his four 0.303-inch machine guns, the standard defensive weapons of the wartime bombers. Just visible above the gunner's head are three spare bulbs for the reflector gun-sight. In a Stirling, the tail gunner was nearly eighty feet behind the pilot!
