On 14th November, the Division took a small but costly action to clear the enemy away from east of Weert.
1/7th Queens and 'C' Squadron, 8th Hussars were ordered to take a lock on the canal at Panheel, but the attack met with very fierce resistance and artillery fire. Within 45 minutes only one of the Queen's officer was still standing with the rest either killed or wounded. Their losses that day were over 30 men, killed or wounded, which was a bitter blow to an already depleted battalion.
