The 301 Sqdn left from Hemswell at 1942-10-09 at 20:29
On Friday 09 October 1942, a member of the 301 Sqdn, Sergeant S Szczepanski, took off from Hemswell in the United Kingdom. His mission is mentioned elsewhere on WW2 History Europe. Campaign report of the USAAF:


(Eighth Air Force:) Mission 14: 108 bombers are dispatched to bomb the steel and engineering works of the Compagnie de Fives at Lille, France and the locomotive and freight car works of Ateliers d'Hellemmes at Lille; 59 B-17s and 10 B-24s hit the primary targets; 2 B-17s hit the secondary target, Courtrai Airfield; other targets hit are Longuenesse Airfield (6) and Roubaix (2); the bombers claim 25-38-44 Luftwaffe aircraft; 4 bombers are lost, 2 damaged beyond repair and 46 damaged; 10 airmen are WIA and 29 MIA.

8/9 October 1942

Minelaying: 57 aircraft to Lorient, St Nazaire, Brest, Ostend, Texel and the Frisians. 2 Wellingtons lost.

9 October 1942

5 Mosquitos to scattered targets in Germany. 1 aircraft lost.

9/10 October 1942

14 Wellingtons laid mines in the Frisian Islands without loss.
