On Tuesday 15 December 1942, a member of the unit an unknown, Warrant Officer V Penek, took off from Luqa (Malta) in the Malta. His mission is mentioned elsewhere on WW2 History Europe. 14 December 1942 (Eighth Air Force): An Inspector General report states that the drain of stocks from the Eighth Air Force for the purpose of equipping the Twelfth Air Force in Northwest Africa is hindering greatly the training and combat program of the Eighth Air Force.

14/15 December 1942

Minelaying: 68 aircraft - 27 Halifaxes, 23 Lancasters, 18 Wellingtons - to Texel, Heligoland and the Frisians. The 5 Group Lancasters were recalled but most of the other types carried out their tasks. There were no losses.

15/16 December 1942

5 Wellingtons minelaying off Lorient and St Nazaire without loss.
