The 12 Sqdn left from Wickenby at 1942-09-27 at 19:30
On Sunday 27 September 1942, a member of the 12 Sqdn, Sergeant H C Thompson, took off from Wickenby in the United Kingdom. His mission is mentioned elsewhere on WW2 History Europe. You can find the other details of this mission by searching here. Training and cargo flights are not separately mentioned as a mission. The plane left at 19:30.

He flew with a Vickers Wellington (type II, serial BJ776, code PH-V).

Campaign report of the USAAF:


26 September 1942 (Eighth Air Force:) Mission 12: 75 B-17s and 36 P-38s are dispatched to attack Cherbourg/Maupertus and Morlaix/Porjeau Airfields, France; 16 execute diversionary missions but the remainder are recalled due to adverse weather. 

27 September 1942 (Twelfth Air Force:) Following a series of command changes between 16 and 27 Sep, Brigadier General Thomas W Blackburn becomes Commanding General XII Fighter Command. The War Department assigns to the XII Air Support Command the units which are to constitute its force for the invasion of N Africa: the 5th Bombardment Wing [47th Bombardment Group (Light) and 68th Observation Group], the 7th Fighter Wing (33d and 81st Fighter Groups), and 10 signal, service, and engineer units of various sizes.

Flensburg

28 Halifaxes of 4 Group were recalled. 1 aircraft went on to bomb the target area and 1 aircraft was lost.

52 Wellingtons and 19 Stirlings minelaying in the Frisians and off Denmark. 1 Wellington lost.
