The night squadrons continued operations with their largest effort to date. 142 aircraft - 48 Hampdens, 48 Whitleys, 46 Wellingtons - attacked many targets from Hamburg to Frankfurt; a few of the Wellingtons made a last attack on German positions near Dunkirk. 1 Hampden was lost and another crashed into a barrage-balloon cable at Felixstowe when returning to England.
