HAMBURG
28 aircraft - 13 Stirlings, 7 Wellingtons, 6 Manchesters, 2 Halifaxes. 4 Stirlings and 2 Wellingtons lost. Hamburg reports much damage with 8 people killed, 115 injured and 465 bombed out, also a large fire which completely destroyed a store containing 650 tons of rice and 200 tons of animal foods. 3 bombers were shot down over Hamburg by night fighters and the rice-store fire may have been started by a crashing bomber.
3 Hampdens laid mines in the Frisians without loss.
