Lack of moonlight and intense searchlights made identification of targets difficult but 82 aircraft claimed good bombing results. Cologne reports scattered bombing over a wide area but with some concentration in the southern districts of the city. 1 industrial building was destroyed and 22 damaged. 30 private houses were destroyed and 100 damaged. In the city centre, the Rathaus, a hospital, a department store and a well-known caf, Caf Bauer, were all damaged. 20 people were killed and 24 injured.
